Past Events: ARTSPICIOUS EXHIBITION by Li Volk / Karma Lhamo

A native of Wuhan, China, Li moved to the southern city of Shenzhen in 1990, and moved to the United States in 2001. Her professional career in marketing and branding started in 1992 as co-founder of the first design and marketing firm in Shenzhen, China. 

In the summer of 2016, she began as a full-time apprentice at Southern Atelier (now Miano Academy of Art). While studying there, her expertise in business and marketing led her to managing the Atelier as the Executive Director for over 4 years. 

At Atelier she was exposed to many advanced teachings from International Visiting Master Artists.  Legendary American Master Artists, Max Ginsburg, Paul Ingbretson, Steven Assael; and some of the great Chinese Master Artists, such as Huihan Liu, Zhaoming Wu, and Jove Wang, have shaped her development tremendously. 

Li has won many awards. In July 2023, receiving an award from the 16th ARC International Salon Competition at Sotheby’s New York (the largest representational art competition in the world), was the highlight of her career before she found her path in Dharma Art. 

Realism in Dharma will be her main direction from now on. She will paint whatever Dharma presents to her, from portraits of the holy gurus, to the impermanence of all things. Her Dharma name is Karma Lhamo.
