October Lecture/ Birth of the Warrior

Difficulties are not fundamental obstacles to our basic nature. Learning to notice the contents of one’s thoughts, and see how we use them to create our “cocoon”, in this way, awareness of the styles of habitual patterns is cultivated.

The practice of fearlessness is described, and participants are encouraged to notice the connection between their unwillingness to stay with the experience of fear, sadness or other challenging phenomena, and the creation of habitual patterns as a way of masking, buffering or avoiding such experiences.

An honest examination of the cocoon, and one’s fear is the only way to begin to discover and express one’s fearlessness - this is the way out of the cocoon and to freedom.
